Don’t forget that our Pre-LGPE Concert is tomorrow, January 30 at 7PM in the concert hall.  This is your opportunity to hear our LGPE programs if you are not able to make the actual LGPE next week.  The concert is free and open to the public.

Concert and Philharmonia students should arrive by 6:15 PM and Sinfonia/Chamber should arrive at 6:30 PM in full concert black uniform.

LGPE Permission Forms Due on ParentVue

Parents: It is imperative that you complete the LGPE permission form in ParentVue by February 1.  An email reminder from CTLS was sent this morning. The permission form must be done on a web browser and the directions are below.

Directions:
1. Log in to ParentVue on a web browser (not the phone app).
2. On the left hand side, select Family Information Guide. Click on it (it’s a white box), click ACKNOWLEDGE at the top. Once you’ve done this step, you don’t have to do it again.
3. On the left hand side, select Student Information
4. Select Student Field Trip Permission
5. Field Trips will be green and it will say “action required”
6. Complete all fields and save after each section.
7. For other trips, the information should pre-populate.

Pre-LGPE Camp Wrap-Up

Camp was a success!!
Our camp on January 20 was a HUGE success!  The students worked very hard under the guidance of their orchestra clinicians and sectional coaches.  We made HUGE learning gains in just one day!  Special thanks to the parents who helped plan and organize our after party!!

Camp Make-Up Work
If your student missed camp, these make-up assignments must be completed prior to LGPE (February 6).

DIRECTIONS: For each session you missed, you will be required to make up that portion of your grade. There were 4 sessions total.
If you missed, please record 1 playing check per session missed. You can pick the spot that you’ve worked on and made your best. Please do not play something easy that you can play without practice. Please show off some of the more difficult spots in your music. 12-16 measures per playing check is about right.
Please submit ONE video for EACH camp session you missed.  You will find the topic in your class Flip under “Pre-LGPE Camp Make-Up”
In your video, first tell me what piece you are playing and what measures, then perform those measures. This is not a practice vlog, it's a performance. (You should practice and prepare beforehand.)

Dr. Laux Attends GMEA Inservice Conference

This past weekend I attend the GMEA inservice conference in Athens and it was incredible! It’s always nice to be able to network with directors from all over the state to learn, compare notes, and engage.  I am a member of the Coda String Quartet (with other Cobb Orchestra Directors) and we performed alongside the Allatoona HS Chorus on Thursday evening.  I also witnessed performances by several of our area orchestras including the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra and our own senior violinist Mia Motley.  On Saturday I presented a session entitled “Inspire, retain, and empower intermediate string students.” When I leave the conference I feel empowered, refreshed, and always grateful for the incredible program we have at Lassiter!
