GMEA All-State Auditions
About All-State
Being accepted into the GMEA All-State Orchestra is one of the top honors a student can receive. Students go through a rigorous audition process consisting of two rounds. If accepted, the All-State event is in March at the Classic Center in Athens, Georgia.
District (First Round) Audition information:
The first round (district) audition is on Saturday, October 24 at Pope High School. Times are TBA. If you have a special scheduling request, please indicate it on the form.
The first audition consists of scales, etudes, and sight-reading this information can be found online at the website below.
State Level (Final Round) Audition Information:
If students pass the district audition, they advance to the second round that will take place on Saturday, January 16 at The Westminster School. The second audition focuses on orchestral excerpts and sight-reading.

FAQ
Do students have to take private lessons to qualify for All-State?
Private lessons are not required, but strongly suggested as the audition materials and excerpts are quite difficult and require individual attention to the student.
When is the All-State event?
Each year Allstate is held in late February or early March.
This year the dates are March 4-6 2027 at the Classic Center in Athens.
What is the audition fee for?
GMEA requires an audition fee for each student. This covers the cost of facility use, judging, and more. If students make it past the first round and into the final round of auditions, a separate fee is not required.
How much is the audition fee?
The audition fee is $25 per student. This covers both rounds of auditions.
Audition fees are collected by each school from individual students, then sent to GEA in the form of one payment. Students can register for Allstate auditions here:

Will my student be excused from school for All-State?
Yes, the All-State event is considered a school, sponsored activity and students will be excused.
