New Assistant Director Michael Giel!

It is with great pleasure that we welcome Michael Giel as the new Associate Director for the Lassiter Orchestra Program.  Mr. Giel comes to us after 13 years leading high school orchestra programs in both the Dekalb and Fulton County school systems.  As a violinist and violist, Mr. Giel performed extensively in professional orchestras throughout Georgia and Florida.  Additionally, Mr. Giel conducted the Governors Honors Program Orchestra from 2008 to 2014 and currently is the conductor of the Capitol City Opera Company in Atlanta.  A native of Atlanta, Mr. Giel lives in Downtown Atlanta with his wife Catherine, a pianist, and the music director for the Capitol City Opera Company.  In his free time, Mr. Giel is an avid tennis player, a violinist in the Dave Matthews cover band “Under the Tree and Dreaming”, and the proud owner of three Pomeranians.

Michael Giel brings to us a wealth of experience and musical mastery, the hallmark of the Lassiter Orchestra Program.  I’m very excited to welcome Mr. Giel into our orchestra family.  Our Orchestra Registration Day is Thursday, July 26 from 5-7pm.  Please introduce yourself and greet our new director!

Looking forward to a wonderful year of music-making!  Enjoy your summer and we’ll see you soon!
