Remembering Kathy Yarger

Dear Orchestra Families,

It is with a heavy heart that I write to share the passing of a member of our Lassiter Orchestra family, Kathy Yarger.

Kathy passed away on February 13 after a long battle with cancer. She was an active volunteer for both the Lassiter Orchestra and Band programs and also served as a substitute teacher, primarily at Mabry Middle School and for the Lassiter Orchestra. Her twin daughters, Mary and Bethany, were dedicated members of the orchestra program and graduated in 2025.

Those of us who had the privilege of working with Kathy will remember her for her kindness, her willingness to serve wherever she was needed, and the genuine care she showed toward our students. She had a special ability to connect with young people and build positive relationships with them, and she was always a warm and encouraging presence in our program.

You are invited to a Celebration of Life for Kathy on Sunday, March 22 at 3:00 p.m. at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends for light refreshments in the church gymnasium following the service
