Newsletter #13 – January 22, 2026
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR FRIDAY, JANUARY 23!
ALL students should take home their personal instruments this weekend. Cello & Bass players are welcome to check out a school instrument. Individual practice is very important right now with our Large Group Performance Evaluation on the horizon! Please help me by encouraging your child to practice. :-)
LGPE PLAYING CHECK ASSIGNMENT
The LGPE Playing check is due on Friday, January 23 at 11:59 PM. This assignment should be recorded on a student’s device and uploaded to the assignment in Microsoft Teams. The assignment is the only large-scale playing check of the 4th six week grading period and has been assigned for over two weeks. Late submissions will result in lowered chair placement for LGPE.
LGPE PREVIEW CONCERT
Our LGPE Preview Concert is Tuesday, January 27 at 7:00 PM in the Concert Hall. This is a great way for us to perform our LGPE music in front of an audience to see where we are and what parts of our music need additional work. It is also parents’ opportunity to hear our LGPE programs if you are not able to make the actual LGPE even on February 9/10 at Walton HS.
Concert and Philharmonia students should arrive by 6:15 PM and Sinfonia/Chamber should arrive at 6:30 PM in full concert black uniform. Students must remain in attendance for the entire concert.
LGPE EVENT
Our LGPE Events are scheduled for February 9 and 10 at Walton HS.
2/9: Concert Orchestra, 10:00 AM; Chamber Orchestra, 3:00 PM
2/10: Sinfonia, 10:00 AM; Philharmonia, 11:30 AM
Detailed itineraries can be found on our website calendar at www.lassiterorchestra.org/calendar
IMPORTANT: Parents should log into ParentVUE and complete the field trip permission form as soon as possible
WEATHER UPDATE!!
With the incoming winter blast, I’m on high alert because of our LGPE Preview Concert scheduled for Tuesday, 1/27. If school happens to be canceled on 1/27, then our concert will be too.
If at all possible, I will look at other options for a make-up concert. Playing our LGPE program in a preview concert is very helpful in our preparation.
Please stay warm and safe this weekend, orchestra families!!
Sincerely,
Dr. Laux
