Camp Wrap-Up
Wow! Our Fall Camp was a HUGE success. Thank you to our amazing students for their hard work in each of the four learning blocks. I hope you all had a great experience and learned things you will be able to take forward in class and beyond.
Thank you to our amazing leadership team, especially those who helped set up and worked so hard on the lavish “Hunger Games” skit. I was blown away!!! You’ve definitely set a new standard for camp skits!
Our conductors and coaches were so impressed with the students and how they carried themselves during each of the sessions. Thank you, students, for being respectful and hard working. You represent the Lassiter Orchestras so well!
Last, I couldn’t be more grateful for our amazing group of LHSOA board/committee members and additional parent volunteers. If you helped with bringing in food donations, working a supervision shift, picking up food, cleaning up, and more, WE APPRECIATE YOU! THANK YOU for making camp extra special for the students!
Digital Learning Day – Camp Survey
Students were given an assignment this morning. It is a fall camp feedback survey in Teams. This assignment is for a written/electronic grade and will be due Thursday, August 21 at 11;59 PM.
Orchestra Homework
Many parents don’t think that orchestra class has regular homework, but we do! The student’s job at home is to make sure they have learned their notes, rhythms, and bowings in all of their music. We call this “NRB – Notes, Rhythms, and Bowings” Please encourage your child to practice so they can come to class prepared with the basics of their music so that we can work on playing together, dynamics, phrasing, and other higher level musician skills.
Baseline Scale & Arpeggio Assessment on Teams
This week, students will be asked to record a scale and arpeggio in Teams. This will be our “pre-test” for the year. I’m looking for great posture, a full tone (big bows), and good intonation.

Upcoming Orchestra Dates
- This Thursday, August 21 is Lassiter Open House starting at 6:30 PM. I’m looking forward to seeing you there!
- Our Fall Concert is Tuesday, September 9 at 7:30 PM in the Concert Hall.
