Hello Students and Parents,
What a busy but great week of school! We got some of the rust off by warming up and reviewing some of the basics of string technique. We also began sight-reading some sheet music. We have another busy week ahead with our Fall Camp this Saturday.
1. Beginning of the Year Items are due TODAY
- Handbook Acceptance Agreement Form (Green sheet signed and returned)
- Handbook Quiz (on Teams)
- “Introduce Yourself” on Padlet (Directions on Teams)
- Complete the “use of a school instrument” form if you are using a school instrument. (see below)
2. Fall Camp is Saturday, August 16
Here is some information for Saturday…
- Students should report at 8:45 to register in the lobby of the new theater. We will begin promptly at 9AM. (Reminder: No food or drinks in the theater or concert hall)
- Students will go through two orchestra rehearsals, a sectional, and one special session on building musicianship.
- Our clinicians are incredible professionals from our area and students will get top notch training!
- Lunch is at 11:45 AM. Students should pack a sack lunch.
- The camp will be done at 4PM.
- There is an optional (but encouraged!) after party that will include some fun games and a movie and/or dance party. We will have pizza and drinks too.

IMPORTANT: If a student is unable to make all or a part of camp, you must email Dr. Laux in advance to explain the absence. This is a required event for all orchestra students. A make-up assignment will be given and will be due before Fall break.
3. Our annual Orchestra Parent Meeting will be held on Wednesday, August 13 at 7:00 PM in the new Lassiter theater (not the concert hall).
Each family should have one representative attend either in person or virtually. A virtual link will be provided in a separate email on Wednesday after school.

5. If your child is using a Lassiter-owned instrument, you MUST complete this School Instrument Use Contract. This includes cello/bass students that use an instrument in school only.

7. All orchestra students now have several pieces of sheet music in their orchestra folders! One piece will memorized for our Spetember 16 Concert. You should hear your child practicing at home regularly. :-)
